Empowering Design for Good Exploring Posters Can Help

Slanted Publishers, a German publishing and media house, has launched an inspiring project titled “Posters Can Help,” which highlights the transformative power of design for social good.

A Call to Action

Motivated by recent events in Ukraine, Slanted Publishers initiated the project as a way to leverage their platform for positive change. They issued a global call to action, inviting designers from around the world to contribute their creative talents to support a worthy cause. The goal was to harness the power of design to drive awareness and make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

Driving Positive Change

The project was guided by a powerful question: “Can we accelerate the transition to a sustainable, fair, and just society through the power of design?” The overwhelming response from the design community was incredibly positive, with over 400 creatives participating and nearly 700 posters submitted. The result is a vibrant and diverse compilation of creative pieces, each conveying a positive message aimed at driving social awareness and change.

Uniting the Global Creative Community

“We believe in the problem-solving power of design,” state the publishers. Their vision is to contribute to a world that is sustainable, inclusive, equitable, and safe. “Posters Can Help” serves as a testament to the collective strength of the global creative community, coming together to address pressing social issues through the medium of design.

Supporting Nonprofit Organizations

Proceeds from the sale of the publication will be donated to two nonprofit organizations: ARTHELPS and Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders). These organizations are at the forefront of driving positive change in the world, and the contributions from “Posters Can Help” will aid in furthering their impactful work.

Featuring Ukrainian Designers

The book also includes interviews with Ukrainian designers Olga Andrieieva, Jakub Stepień, and Anton Bukoros. They share insights into their current challenges and discuss the healing power of design. Additionally, a selection of posters created for the “Poster Rex” project in 2017, which explored the effects of war, is featured alongside their interviews, adding depth and context to the publication.

Conclusion

“Posters Can Help” is more than just a book—it’s a testament to the potential of design to drive positive change and unite communities around the world. With its vibrant collection of creative pieces and support for nonprofit organizations, it serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration in challenging times.
