Revitalizing Neighborhoods Sports Hall in Louviers
The Sports Hall in Louviers, designed by Atelier Féret & Frechon Architectes, serves as the House of Sports and Associations, providing essential facilities for municipal associations and community gatherings. Located within the SPORTIF Maxime Marchand complex, the construction of this new facility presented an opportunity to accommodate various sports clubs, including bodybuilding and fitness, while also incorporating caretaker’s accommodation.
Neighborhood Revitalization Efforts
Situated at the southeastern end of an existing sports complex, the Maison des Sports aims to enhance the Red House neighborhood’s appeal. Its strategic location on the east side, adjacent to the school and a multimodal exchange hub, underscores its significance as a focal point within the community.
Sustainable Design Approach
Aligned with a commitment to sustainable development, the City sought the BEPOS label for the new facility, emphasizing energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. The architectural and technical design of the project prioritized urban integration and high-performance standards, optimizing natural light and climate control.
Architectural Features
The Maison des Sports adopts a compact square plan, measuring 36m x 36m, ensuring efficient use of space while preserving green areas previously occupied by the swimming pool. Carefully planned cuts within the structure allow for adequate ventilation and integration of technical rooms, while also accommodating a photovoltaic field for sustainable energy generation.
Urban Integration
With two distinct urban facades, the building harmonizes with its surroundings. The south-facing facade aligns with the tree-lined promenade, seamlessly blending into the landscape, while the east-facing facade showcases the sports halls’ dynamic volumes, creating a striking visual impact from the future multimodal hub.
As a beacon of community engagement and sustainability, the Sports Hall in Louviers stands as a testament to thoughtful design and urban renewal efforts, enriching the lives of residents and fostering a sense of belonging within the neighborhood.
